Damage Control. Are you In?

The past several days, I’ve had numerous calls from people upset (even panicked) at the outcome of the presidential election. If this is you (even a little bit), read on. If this isn’t you, but you have anguished over any unwanted situation where you felt hopeless and helpless in your life, read on.
The soul has an agenda in everything that’s important to you and that includes politics. From the soul’s perspective, there’s more to any subject than what is on the surface. The trick is to understand what you are feeling.
So what is the soul’s agenda here? That’s individual to each person. But it can be found in identifying the feelings (whether good or bad) any situation brings forth from inside of you. These feelings are the gems that will guide you to let go of what you do not want in favor of what you do want and ultimately help you fine-tune your heart’s desires.
Let me explain. I believe the soul’s agenda is for you to be loving, joyful and peaceful. Sounds nice! But the soul has a tricky job. We humans aren’t taught how to consciously create positive emotions. Rather, we are encouraged to solve our problems intellectually, often a long and unpleasant process. We all know how we don’t want to feel; emotions like fear, despair and anger can overwhelm and even consume us. But this suffering will not bring us what we want. Rather, our power to manifest what we desire comes from focusing on how we do want to feel.
It’s said that there are three causes of human emotional suffering: having what you don’t want; wanting what you don’t have and not knowing what you want either way. Can you relate? It may be surprising to know that there’s a higher purpose to our negative emotions—yet there is. They motivate us to want to feel better. Negative experiences and the feelings they elicit, help us to want to feel love, joy and peace in a deeper way. And this is how we connect with our truest desires and create them.
Take a moment to examine a situation that you are feeling negative emotions about and write those feelings down. Now write the opposite positive emotion next to them on the page. These are the feelings to focus on if you want the situation to improve. If you have trouble making the shift, think of an experience or situation that brings forth those positive emotions (here’s a tip: it can be just as powerful to imagine a scenario), or engage in an activity that makes you feel that way. Listen to music, watch a movie, look at art, or get out in nature.
It takes practice to learn to purposely think in a new way. So don’t trip yourself up by entertaining outside negative influences, as these will only bring more of the same result and you won’t feel any better. Don’t get discouraged if you find yourself back in the negative feelings zone, simply remember to shift back to the positive. (To add even more positive manifesting power, create a symbol for what you want. See previous post The Feather on my blog mariashart.com for more information.) In time, you’ll find yourself naturally feeling more joyful, loving and at peace.
And now the big message. The beings of the spirit realm have the power to heal and correct any situation; but they are more empowered to intercede when we humans ask for their assistance. So be a good spirit partner and ask for help from your heavenly allies. Remember, you are a master in the making, one of the rare and magnificent humans with the ability to foster miracles. So be diligent about doing your part to help spirit intercede.
Now briefly back to politics. As I said, several clients called feeling powerless, hopeless and angry. One said, “We need damage control! But what can we do?” My answer: “Have faith and call upon the most powerful source of healing and positive change—Spirit—the supreme damage control expert.”
Today’s political problems go far beyond one election or one candidate. However, this election has created an intensity of emotions, and this outpouring of feelings is serving to fine-tune the desires of every person who feels them. Collectively this puts us in the powerful position to make lasting positive changes that will create more love, joy and peace in this world. And that, my incredible fellow humans, is the soul’s agenda.
