2017 A Year of New Inspiration

In numerology we get insight into the energy of the coming year by adding up its number. 2017 (2+0+1+7) adds to 10, and reduces (1+0) to 1—the number of the self, leadership, ambition, adventure and new beginnings. It is the first of nine years in the recurring numerological cycle.
But there’s more to any reduced number than its singular meaning. There are numerous ways one can mathematically arrive at the number 10/1. For instance in 2008 we entered a 10/1 year. This was the year we experienced one of the worst economic crises in our country’s history.
Every number has a negative and positive influence. Looking back at 2008, we see the 2—the number of home, relationships, our emotional foundation, security, cooperation, balance, and equality—followed by two zeros. Zeros intensify any numerological combination. Sort of like how white intensifies any color it’s paired with side by side. So too is the effect of zero. The last number in the year is 8. Eight is the number of finance, career, society, organizations, government, and physical manifestations.
In hindsight, it is easy to see the positive results of the ‘crash’ of 2008. But it took a while to get over the shock to our sense of security and rebuild on stronger footing. Our financial institutions were out of balance, reflecting our own inner need to reprioritize our values and seek security in what’s important. Our new beginning of 2008, forced us to create financial balance and to put more value on those things money can’t buy—like community, home, family and our relationships.
In 2017 we have the 2 again, partnered with the zero, intensifying our need for security, home, family, relationship, our emotions. Next to the pioneering 1 is the mystical number 7. Seven’s energy is spiritual, ethereal, creative, and inspiring. In short, it is the number of who we are at the soul level. Of all the numbers, I believe that 7 is the most difficult for most humans to deal with, especially in societies that put more value on what’s physical, than what’s spiritual. The 7 does not create form; it breaks it down, which can be quite disorienting and frequently disrupts our material world plans. Depending on how comfortable you are with your spirituality, 7 can disillusion as often and as deeply as it inspires. But if we are true to ourselves, listen to our intuition, have faith, and are willing to serve for the greater good, 7 can create magic and fulfill our heart's desires.
My wish for 2017 is that it marks the beginning of a cycle of balance between the physical and spiritual worlds. That we begin to value those intangible things, like creativity and intuition, and express, even celebrate them in daily life. That we hold onto our dreams and remember that they really can come true.
But this energy goes beyond any one person; it extends to humanity and the planet (even the universe!) as a whole. Each of us, in our own way, desires to live more peaceful, joyful and loving lives—this is part of the soul’s agenda. But we are not meant to do it alone. We are partners, not only with other people, but with spirit. And that’s the key. If we work together our individual dreams can become a collective reality and the world (even the universe!) will be a more peaceful, joyful and loving place. Doesn’t that sound lovely?
But here’s the tricky part. Every number has negative aspects. Two can be codependent and insecure; zero, scattered and ambiguous; one, hardheaded and egotistical; and seven, delusional and deceptive. Not a very inspiring combination. In fact, it is anything but inspiring. So learn to recognize these negative energies and don’t get caught up in them. Set a positive tone. Maintain your spiritual center, by trusting and acting upon your soul’s voice: your intuition. What you feel, think and do affects the whole. So give the best of yourself and be an Ambassador of New Inspiration.
